In July 2017, there will be an international summer camp for the fourth year already! A team of 23 ambitious, creative and energetic volunteers from Slovenia, Austria and Holland established a working group, which will contribute to better results on the spot!
Volunteers are fundraising for school meals as they don’t want any child to learn hungry!
Work of the volunteers on summer camps is proven to be the most effective one. Children and teachers in kindergarten and school learned the most on our organized summer school camps since our volunteers carefully prepared activities every year, collected a great deal of school materials and completely devoted to teaching through play, dance and entertainment.
MEET OUR SUMMER CAMP VOLUNTEERS
My name is Ana, I’m a student of medicine and a masseuse. I love everything related to sports or nature and I’m always on the lookout for new adventures. Experience and knowledge widen one’s horizons and can never be taken away. This is why I’m traveling to Gambia – to find new experience in a completely different environment. My wish to travel as a volunteer originates from my desire to help people, to get to know them and to awaken core values in each and every one of us.
My name is Anze, I’m 27 years old. I have finished law school and I’m currently working at European Space Agency in Netherlands. I have been collaborating with the organization Kids are The World Slovenia for quite a while now, this year I will finally get to visit Africa and combine traveling with volunteering. I want to help people develop on an individual and cultural level.
My name is Helena, I’m a third year student of pedagogics, Slovenian language and literature at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. I like singing, traveling and spending my free time with friends. I’m planning on combining my travels with my studies and help children get a better education.
My name is Julija Kokalj and I’m a 23-year-old student of elementary education. I have visited the Gambia two years ago and I cannot wait to go back and experience the overwhelming amount of joy that simple things can bring.
My name is Karin Robin and I’m a second year student of ethnology and cultural anthropology at the Faculty or Arts in Ljubljana. I will take part in the summer camp 2017 because I want to help make the world a better place by volunteering. I believe that spreading positivity is the key in making a better tomorrow and every person’s efforts count.

My name is Lucija Petric, I’m 21 years old and I’m studying chemical technology. I decided to visit the Gambia because I would love to help children there. I love to travel so I’m very excited to see how they live, get to know their culture and gain new experience throughout our stay there.

I decided to visit the Gambia because I know the country of smiling people will bring new adventures my way and offer me a chance to help people. The whole experience will make me grow as a person.
My name is Nika and I’m studying at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. My biggest wish is to travel the world, discover new places, meet people and learn about different cultures. I decided to visit the Gambia because I believe this is a unique opportunity for me to gain experience but most of all I’m joining the summer camp to help people and try to make a difference in their lives.
My name is Nusa, I’m 24 years old and I work in dentistry. I’m leaving for Africa to gain experience and have an amazing adventure. I’m also a sponsor to a little girl named Awa and above all I’m very excited to meet her and spend as much time with her as possible. My task in the summer camp is to teach children about dental hygiene and make their smiles even brighter. There is nothing better than to travel and make a change as a volunteer at the same time.

I decided to visit the Gambia and volunteer at a summer camp because I want to help children with their knowledge of English language. At the same time I am excited to gain valuable experience for the future.

I do believe that I can learn so much from Gambian people. I especially long for a soul fulfilling experience and I know I will gain so much from this summer camp.

I’m traveling to Africa in hopes to discover a new culture, to connect with it and reinvent myself as a person. Music is a language we all share and I will use it as a tool to paint smiles on people’s faces. I want to help them believe in a better world and I’m looking to find the same hope myself.
My name is Sara Senica, I’m 26 years old and I’m a student at European Faculty of Law. I have always been interested in human rights especially human rights in developing countries. This is why I will include our experience at summer camp into my master thesis. Most of all I am excited to see this beautiful country and meet its smiling people.

My name is Ursa Repic, I’m 23 years old. I’m studying elementary education at University of Maribor. I love traveling and getting to know new cultures and that is why I decided to visit Africa this year. Summer Camp will be a unique opportunity for me since I will help people and at the same time get a chance to discover a whole new world.

I decided to visit the Gambia to help document the summer camp through photographs but also to get to know new culture and a different way of living.I am a very open and happy person. I have experience in childcare and in taking care of people with mental illnesses. The summer camp will be an excellent opportunity for me to advance in photography but above all it will attribute to my personal growth.
My name is Denis Budimir and I’m 19 years old. I am studying media production in Novo Mesto. I have always wanted to travel, discover new places and learn about new cultures. I have been to Egypt before so this won’t be my first time visiting Africa. I love working with children and I have lots of experience since I often look after my three-year-old sister.
